Epson Red Sea 2008 - World of Underwater Images
Epson RedSea Contest From November 10th-15th Eilat will be swamped by underwater photographers and videographers again for the 4th year in a row, because the Eilat Shoot Out will be taking place. We have covered this event in the last years [2006|2007]. This year Epson could be won as a new sponsor. Additionally a new category has been announced "Winning & Donnating". 11 photographers from 11 different countries are invited to compete in this category in the live shoot out. The winner will receive a $5,000 check courtesy Of the Israeli Diving Authority and will be granted the opportunity to donate it to an international shark conservation organization.
The ships of darkness released

Our friend Gyula Somogyi has just released a DVD featuring two underwater short films including the award-winning "The ships of darkness". Additionally you will find a short music video clip and a tutorial on productions techniques used in the moviews on the same DVD.

Fantasea Line Announce Winner of their Fantasea Line just announced the winner of their "Name the New Flash" competition. In august Fantasea Line asked underwater photographers to submit suggestions for a new flash that has been introduced by Fantasea Line. The winner is Mr. Al Yafi. He suggested to name the flash "Remora" like the animal.

Rajah Ampat 2009 Entry Tag Contest WinnerThe Winner of the Raja Ampat Entry Tag Contest has been announced. Brazilian photographer Marcio Lisa wins 2009 Raja Ampat Tourism Entry Tag Contest with a silhouette of a manta ray. The image will be printed on the 2009 Raja Ampat Tourism Entry tag series.

HD-camcorders are getting DSLR-competitors
HD-Videokameras bekommen DSLR-Konkurrenz Today Canon has lifted the secret of the EOS 5D´s successor and to my great surprise this year's product feature of the Photokina seems to be a DSLR with the ability to capture HD movies. It´s an obvious development after the evolutionary stages sensor-cleaning and live-view in the last years. Canon now has struck back with the EOS 5D Mark II and gained an edge over the recently announced Nikon D90

Nikon D700 housing from Aquatica
Aquatica announced a new housing for the Nikon D700. Although the D700 is very similar to the D300 a new housing design is needed. The new housing is made in the new look of the Aquatica Digital Pro housings, which is painted with a robust weather and wear resistant finish. The housing will be available for 2949 USD.
New housings HDZX1 and HD9 from Sealux
New housings HDZX1 and HD9 from Sealux Sealux announced to new housings for HD camcorder. The HDZX1 for the Sony PMW-EX1 and the HD9 for the Sony HDR-HC9. Sealux claims that the HDZX1 housing is the smallest and lightest tailor-made housing available for the Sony HDZX1. The Sealux HDZX1 is available with a flat or a dome port for high optical quality. With the HD9 housing Sealux introduces a new feature for the view-finder. The viewfinder is swung 15% towards the diver to easily use the hosing in the swimming position. The most important functions can be easily accessed from the handles on both housing.

Underwater-TV-station "The Underwater Channel" has just been relaunched using the Internet TV network "babelgum". Some interesting contributions are coming along direct from the start, ready to be played for on-demand-viewing of course. Here you can find the channel in the 'depth' of the world wide web.
